Quick Response Saves Life of Cruise Ship Employee

Recue Boat Drop and Reel Responder Pickup

The Reel Responder Picks Up Heart Attack Victim

BMW Vessel Response gets its FIRST medical emergency call for assistance on Monday, December 12th, due to an employee having chest pains and needing urgent medical care. Captain Doug Kroeck received the call for assistance at 1:14 PM and was underway responding to the Victory 1 cruise ship. Captain Kroeck was able to conduct a safe transfer of an ambulatory male patient, and then transfer him to Freddie Patrick Park Boat Ramp. Cape Canaveral Fire Rescue and Brevard County Fire Rescue were already waiting at the boat ramp where they recovered the patient and transported him to Cape Canaveral Hospital for care and immediate treatment.

It wasn’t until the next day that Captain Kroeck learned the patient was immediately rushed into heart surgery, and had another 5 more minutes passed, he may not have survived. BMW Vessel Response is so very excited for this major milestone in our business, and the fact that we saved a life that now has the opportunity to spend Christmas with his family. We are always “On Call For Life” for those at sea.
